Capital Imaging P.C. is now connected to Hixny, contributing both live and historical imaging reports to the Hixny participants.

The Latham firm is the third independent imaging center to access and contribute electronic health records (EHR) to Hixny participants. Schenectady Radiologists P.C. went live recently, joining long-time participant Adirondack Radiology Associates P.C. These three organizations are responsible for a large percentage of the outpatient volume of mammograms, ultrasounds, chest x-rays, MRIs and other imaging procedures performed in the region. Their connection to Hixny gives ordering providers and care managers real-time access to test results, allowing for quicker, more efficient follow-up and smoother transitions of care.

Capital Imaging contributes observation reports (ORUs) for current patients in real time, and has also made about 35,000 reports, from the past year, available to providers who search for patient information within Hixny. Having historical reports available also will aid primary care physicians in filling out the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) gap lists they receive from insurers each month.

Michael Masone, Director of Capital Imaging, said the practice wanted to be part of Hixny because its mission statement calls for it to be proactive in ensuring the fastest and most secure delivery of medical imaging reports to referring physicians.

“In 1987 we were the first imaging facility, hospital-based or otherwise, to provide faxed reports directly to physicians’ offices, so when the opportunity presented itself to become part of Hixny, we jumped at the chance,” Masone said. “Being an early member with Hixny will increase the speed at which the medical imaging reports get into the patient’s electronic chart and decrease filing mistakes. These advantages will make both Capital Imaging Associates and the referring physician’s office much more accurate and productive, thus improving overall patient care.”

Hixny will be performing extended maintenance beginning Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. During this time, all services
will be impacted and unavailable—including access to the provider portal.
