DELMAR & TROY – Delmar Pediatrics, PLLC and Troy Family Physicians are now sharing electronic health records through the secure Hixny health information exchange (HIE). They join 100 percent of nonprofit and private hospitals, more than 75 percent of primary care physicians and more than 65 percent of specialists in the region who are connected through Hixny.
Delmar Pediatrics, in Slingerlands, provides care for patients from birth through the college years. Providers include Michael Looney, MD; Holly Swanson, MD; Jennifer Larner, MD; and Alexander Brand, MD.
Troy Family Physicians is the primary care practice of John J. O’Bryan, MD and Russell Wenacur, MD, who care for patients of all ages.
Pediatric and family practices are finding increased value in connecting through Hixny thanks to changes in the state’s rules regarding the electronic exchange of patient information for minors. Previously, providers were barred from exchanging records for patients ages 10 to 17. Now, parents may sign consent forms for all minor children, so that every provider involved in the child’s care will have access to more complete information through Hixny.
The connections of Delmar Pediatrics and Troy Family Physicians add to Hixny’s continuous improvement in achieving meaningful exchanges of health information in the region. With more connections, and with patient consent, the healthcare community in the region and across the state can access the records needed to better coordinate care for all New Yorkers.
