How Hixny supports value-based care was a topic at a recent expo for healthcare providers and practice managers.

During the 2018 Provider Expo—sponsored by BlueShield of Northeastern New York and held at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia—speakers covered a range of topics related to practice management, from trends in value-based reimbursement to tips for diagnostic coding accuracy.

At the Hixny exhibit, three team members greeted providers and explained the place of Hixny in healthcare’s emerging landscape.

“Providers are feeling the urgency to make the transition to value-based care,” said John Bunnell, Hixny’s Manager of Account Services. “Faster access to higher-quality data—the very benefit they get from Hixny—is a critical ingredient to achieving the level of quality care, efficiency, and cost savings that value-based care demands.”

The efficiency benefit was echoed in a presentation by Sean Beecher, Director of Provider Network Development and Value-Based Reimbursement Network Operations for BlueShield of Northeastern New York. He urged attendees to “avoid duplication of services—consult Hixny” as one step in facilitating their practices’ transformation to value-based care.

“A cornerstone of succeeding in a value-based care environment, be it in a quality or cost-based arrangement, is the effective coordination of healthcare services,” Beecher said. “Regardless of whether a practice is currently participating in a value-based care arrangement, I would highly recommend they contact Hixny directly or reach out to their BlueShield Provider account manager to help coordinate getting access to Hixny.”

“Population health management has become a significant issue in clinical medicine,” said Dr. Kirk Panneton, regional medical director and executive for BlueShield of Northeastern New York, “and the access to real-time and accurate clinical data is extremely important to accomplish effective management of these patients.”

Hixny will be performing extended maintenance beginning Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. During this time, all services
will be impacted and unavailable—including access to the provider portal.
