Hixny is a health information exchange (HIE). It serves as a secure, real-time database of all healthcare patient records for individuals who have given consent for their providers to share their health information through the system. As such, it is the central source of individual and population level health and the health information exchange leader in New York State.
Hixny is one of eight similar qualified entities (QEs) in New York State. Each of these eight QEs has met standards set by New York State’s Department of Health (NYSDOH) for the electronic access and use of health information.
No. However, Hixny works closely with the New York State Department for Health and is a member of the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY), which connects all eight of the health information exchanges (HIEs) operating in the state.
