In 2025, we’ll celebrate 25 years—but our story begins in 1999. Below is a scanned image of the memo that went out to health plans in the area, noting the intention to create an organization that would eventually become Hixny.

We can’t believe it’s been a quarter of a century, but we’re so proud of how far we’ve come and eager for what’s on the horizon.

Image of memo dated December 15, 1999 that reads: HP A has been meeting with members of the Iroquois Healthcare Alliance - a trade association representing hospitals in upstate New York - to identify areas where the two organizations can work together. A working group of representatives from the two organizations have met and agreed that improvements were needed in the area of electronic data transmission. Both groups expressed a growing dissatisfaction with the data intermediaries currently available and the high cost and often poor quality of these services. While the specific details still need to be worked out there appears to be interest in improving electronic data transmission between payors and providers in the areas of: claims, remittance, eligibility, pre-authorizations; corrections of data input errors; tracking; and, notification of admission. (See attached for description of proposed project) In order to gauge the level of interest among health plans as well as to better understand what data capabilities are currently available, we ask that you complete the brief survey attached to this memo. Responses will be kept confidential, and only aggregate results will be shared. A similar survey is being sent by the Iroquois Healthcare Alliance to its member hospitals. Dependent on the level of interest to further pursue this initiative, it may be possible to obtain state financial support to offset organizational starting costs. If you have any questions regarding the project or survey, please call...

Hixny will be performing extended maintenance beginning Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. During this time, all services
will be impacted and unavailable—including access to the provider portal.
