As 2021 came to a close, we looked back at another challenging year for the healthcare community as a whole. We’re proud that Hixny continues to serve as an increasingly valuable hub for the exchange of all sorts of information among a wide variety of providers and consumers in nearly every care setting.

In particular, we’re very pleased that our focus on obtaining industry-leading security verification—including HITRUST recertification—has allowed us to ensure the secure exchange of information across our systems. As Hixny becomes more integrated into your workflows and systems, you can be certain that we are not exposing your data to additional security risks. Amid increasing cyber- and ransomware attacks against healthcare institutions, we are assured that being ever-vigilant and prepared remains critically important.

What lies ahead for Hixny? We want to make the right thing to do the easy thing to do. That is, we want to provide actionable information completely within a typical provider workflow. For example, we’re starting to integrate clinical and social care information to empower providers to take steps to address social determinants of health within the health information exchange itself.

All of this helps position New York State to access federal funds to provide services and information that support providers in managing the care of the patients they see even more efficiently. That includes claims data from Medicaid and other insurers.

Our goal, in the meantime, is to make sure complete, accurate and up-to-date data is flowing from one provider or hospital to another—from social referrals to quality measures and gaps in care—so that all systems are optimized when new data sources come online.
