Users will enjoy access to higher-quality data through a Hixny initiative to standardize the language of lab results.

Hixny has adopted LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes), a common vocabulary used to move healthcare data seamlessly between the systems that use it. With LOINC, integration of Hixny data into provider EHRs becomes far simpler. The final rules for Meaningful Use Stage 2 specify LOINC as the standard language for lab test results.

“When systems share a common language for lab results, the data displays become cleaner,” said John Bunnell, Hixny’s Manager of Account Services. “That increase in quality enables providers to use the data with more confidence to treat patients more effectively.”

More than 45,400 registered users in 165 countries use LOINC, including healthcare organizations, U.S. federal agencies, insurance companies and laboratories.

Hixny will be performing extended maintenance beginning Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. During this time, all services
will be impacted and unavailable—including access to the provider portal.
