ALBANY – More and more, Hixny users are keeping up with their patients’ health, even when those patients are located—or have received care—in distant areas of New York, as indicated by a dramatic rise in cross-region alerts.
Alerts from other regions of the state to individual Hixny participants have consistently topped 30,000 each month since February 2018. This follows the completion of the Cross Qualified Entity Alerts (XQE) initiative, which enables Hixny users to receive real-time notifications when consenting patients are admitted to or discharged from hospitals in other regions. In some months, the number of alerts has tripled year over year. Similarly, alerts from Hixny to providers in other regions have doubled in several recent months.
“Patients need their health data to be accessible wherever they go,” said Mark McKinney, CEO of Hixny. “At the same time, healthcare professionals need the most up-to-date health information to ensure they have a complete patient record and can provide the best care. Through XQE alerts, we’re making it possible for a growing number of healthcare professionals to have this information at their fingertips within seconds anywhere in the state.”
